Homemade Krispy Kremes 🥰

Homemade Krispy Kremes 🥰
Ingredients:
For the Doughnuts:
-3 tbsp milk
-3 tbsp boiling water
-1 tsp dry active yeast
-8 oz all-purpose flour (a little under 2 cups, measured and weighed)
-1 1/2 oz sugar (about 3 tablespoons)
-1 egg
-1 oz butter, cold to room temperature (do not melt)
-Dash of salt
-Enough oil to cover the bottom few inches of a wok, or a deep fryer

For the Glaze:
-1/3 cup butter
-2 cups confectioners’ sugar
-1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla extract
-4 tablespoons hot water (or as needed)

Directions:
Prepare the Dough:
Activate the Yeast:
In a small bowl, combine the milk and boiling water. Let the mixture cool to lukewarm, then sprinkle the dry active yeast over the top. Stir gently and let it sit for about 5-10 minutes until it becomes frothy.
Mix the Dry Ingredients:
In a large mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, sugar, and a dash of salt. Stir to mix.
Combine the Wet Ingredients:
Add the egg and softened butter to the yeast mixture. Stir until well combined.
Make the Dough:
Gradually add the wet mixture to the dry ingredients, mixing until a dough forms. The dough should be soft but not sticky. Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic.

Let the Dough Rise:
Place the dough in a lightly greased bowl, cover with a clean kitchen towel, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until it has doubled in size.
Shape and Fry the Doughnuts:
Shape the Doughnuts:
Once the dough has risen, turn it out onto a floured surface and roll it out to about 1/2-inch thickness. Use a doughnut cutter or a round cutter to cut out the doughnuts. If you don’t have a doughnut cutter, use a large round cutter for the outer edge and a smaller one for the hole in the center.
Heat the Oil:
Heat enough oil in a wok or deep fryer to cover the doughnuts completely. The oil should reach about 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
Fry the Doughnuts:
Carefully place a few doughnuts at a time into the hot oil. Fry for about 1-2 minutes on each side or until golden brown. Use a slotted spoon to remove the doughnuts from the oil and place them on a paper towel-lined plate to drain

Excess oil.
Prepare the Glaze:
Make the Glaze:
In a medium bowl, melt the butter. Stir in the confectioners’ sugar and vanilla extract until smooth. Gradually add hot water, one tablespoon at a time, until the glaze is thin enough to dip the doughnuts in.
Glaze the Doughnuts:
Dip the Doughnuts:
While the doughnuts are still warm, dip each one into the glaze, turning to coat both sides. Place the glazed doughnuts on a wire rack to allow the glaze to set.

Enjoy:
Serve the Homemade Krispy Kremes fresh and warm, enjoying the soft, fluffy texture and sweet glaze. They are best eaten on the same day they are made.
